Australian Education International (AEI) developed the ELICOS Sector Strategy to provide a framework for its support for the Australian ELICOS sector.
The strategy document has a number of elements. It provides a snapshot of the international English Language Teaching sector and identifies that, although demand for English is rising globally, new competitors and modes of delivery are emerging. Further, to grow market share Australia will need to continue to provide the highest quality service and remain responsive to changing markets.
The strategy discusses key segments in the ELICOS student market and canvasses shifts in demand and supply to help understand the sector’s dynamic nature. Quality assurance is discussed given its crucial role to the sector’s long-term sustainability. A SWOT analysis is used to crystallise the strategic issues for the ELICOS sector.
The strategic priorities section sets out AEI’s specific assistance to the ELICOS sector alongside the generic support provided to Australia’s international education industry. A co-ordinated approach to the sector will lead to agreed priorities to build Australia’s position in international markets.
The priority for AEI over the coming years will be to work in partnership with the Australian ELICOS sector to help it continue its success in a complex, challenging and changing environment.
