AEI supports the internationalisation of Australia’s education and training system, and the reduction of barriers to trade in education and training services. We create relationships that aid the development and sustainability of national security and international trade.
AEI guides Australia’s education and training participation with the following organisations.
AEI negotiates with the World Trade Organisation
for more favourable access for Australia’s education service providers.
AEI is the Australian focal point for the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation Forum's
(APEC) Human Resource Development Working Group, and the Working Group’s Education Network.
AEI facilitates Australia’s involvement in the South East Asia Ministers of Education Organisation
(SEAMEO).
Through the Australian University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP)
program, AEI subsidises Australian higher education institutions’ costs for establishing and monitoring UMAP student exchanges. AEI is also the Australian Secretariat for UMAP and manages Australia's involvement in regional UMAP activities.
Participation in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
(OECD) provides AEI with access to leading edge policy thinking in the world’s most developed economies.
AEI provides support for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation
(UNESCO) activities, particularly in the Asia Pacific.
