International Network - Beijing

Mr Iain Watt
Minister Counsellor (Education) Beijing
Post Jurisdiction: PRC (with managers in Guangzhou, Shangai and Hong Kong)

Iain has been a key player in the international dimension of Australian education and training for the past 15 years.  His current posting to Beijing as Minister Counsellor (Education) commenced in February 2008.  It is his third, following service at counsellor level in Taipei 1995-98 and Beijing 1998-2002.

Iain was Director, International Development and Co-operation at the Australian National University from 2004-2007. He has managed several Branches within Australian Education International and has been an important contributor to international education policy development since 1992.

Mr Quentin Stevenson-Perks
Counsellor (Education) Beijing
Post Jurisdication: PRC (with AEI managers in Hong Kong, Guangzhou.)

 


Mr Quentin Stevenson-Perks commenced as Counsellor (Education) at the Australian Embassy in Beijing in July 2007.

Prior to this appointment, Quentin worked for two years in AEI’s National Office in Canberra dealing with the education industry across Australia on international education issues after having completed a posting as AEI’s Counsellor (Education, Science and Training) in New Delhi, India from 2002 to mid-2005. Quentin is a highly experienced officer of the Australian Government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, having extensive experience in education across a broad range of education sectors that contribute to the quality framework that underpins Australian international education objectives.

In China, Quentin is responsible for AEI’s Hong Kong and Guangzhou Offices, the Vocational Education and Training and Schools Sectors, Australia’s research collaborations with China and education services covered by the proposed Australia-China Free Trade Agreement.
